Plated Talks takes you into one of the most intense battlegrounds of political debate: The Dinner Table.

In this thrilling, tower defense game, you step into the shoes of the youngest family member trying to share their political thoughts to their relatives. Democracy is about educating others and yourself through exchanging ideas. When you're young, it can be frustrating finding the words to explain yourself and it can feel like a bit of a chess match. But what if young people didn't have to struggle speaking to people older than them about their lived experiences?

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Plan out your thoughts and get ready for the conversation! Place your tower on the plot and get ready to challenge the talking points at the table.
  • Be careful! Where you place your towers could mean you don't get through to the rest. Will you be heard? Or will you trip over your words?

Special thanks to University of Southern California for planning this Democracy Jam. It was an honor to participate!

This is such a clever take on a tower defense game! I love that it's not just our units against only the enemies, but it's out units vs enemy units to influence thoughts. It's like a drawn out version of tug of war. The faces are very cute too.
